In every serious criminal case, Attorney DelSignore will explore options to resolve the case prior to trial. In some cases, you may want to resolve the case with a plea deal which can result in various types of dispositions of the case. Some of the common ways cases can be resolved without jail time including the following:

Dismissal of Charges: A dismissal of the charges is the best way a case can be resolved; in some cases, a dismissal can be conditioned on you paying court costs or paying money to an alleged victim.

Pretrial Probation: This is a type of resolution where you agree to certain conditions and over time the District Attorney agrees to dismiss the case if you comply with the agreed up terms. This is an excellent way to resolve a criminal charge in Cambridge District Court.

CWOF or Continuance without a finding: Unlike a dismissal or Pretrial Probation, a CWOF is an admission that you committed the offenses charge. However, it is technically not a conviction so in some cases this can be a great way to resolve a criminal charge. For Example, with motor vehicles offenses, other than OUI, a CWOF will not result in any license suspension of your Driver’s License.

Guilty Probation: A guilty finding is a conviction; however, when you are given probation you are spared jail time; if it is a serious case and or you have a criminal record, a guilty finding may be the best alternative. You should seriously consider your options to fight the case when any plea offer involves a guilty finding.

Guilty Suspended Sentence: A suspended sentence is jail time that is hanging over your head but not imposed. If you violate probation, you can receive the suspended portion of the sentence.

These are some of the ways a criminal charge can be resolved; Attorney DelSignore finds the following three factors to be most important in obtaining a favorable resolution of a criminal charge.

  1. Proactive measures you have taken since the charges have been taken out; this would include alcohol treatment and or counseling to address what lead to the criminal charges. Staying employed and supporting your family while the case is pending are all things that can be told to the District Attorney to help achieve the most favorable outcome possible when you face criminal charges.
  2. By preparing for trial and showing the Prosecutor we are ready for our trial, Attorney DelSignore has been able to achieve favorable resolutions for clients over his career.
  3. Being respect to the Court, dressing appropriate can lead a judge to view your case differently and in more positive light.

I cannot express the gratitude towards Michael for his amazing work and help. It was a very stressful event and they certainly put me at as much ease as possible. From start to finish it took 14 months and all the way through they were both very engaged with me. Today was worth the wait, Michael was great in court and I was rightfully found not guilty. I would recommend Michael over and over again. Claire
