Suboxone Injuries

Did you experience injuries after taking Suboxone or Opioids: Find out if you can recover money?

Indivior, Inc., the manufacturer of Suboxone, a popular medication prescribed to combat opioid addiction, has been sued by multiple consumers who alleged Indivior (previously known as Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals) knew or should have known, and failed to prevent or warn, of risks of severe tooth decay, tooth loss, gum disease, infections, and other oral health side effects associated with the use of Suboxone sublingual strips. The prevailing argument evidencing Indivior’s negligence is Indivior’s patent on the Suboxone pill was soon to expire and therefore, Indivior prematurely rushed the sublingual strips to market to avoid competition with generic versions of the Suboxone pill.

Rightful Legal can assist in determining whether you may be entitled to compensation for dental injuries you suffered from the use of Suboxone sublingual strips. We at Rightful Legal help our clients injured in accidents, and sometimes, such as in this case, we team with other personal injury firms to assist in Mass Tort claims.

Compensation depends on the details of your case and could include:

  • Past and future medical and dental bills
  • Lost wages
  • Pain and suffering
  • Emotional distress
  • Punitive damages (design to “punish” bad behavior)

If after taking Suboxone sublingual strips you have suffered any of the following severe dental issues reported by other claimants, please contact Rightful Legal to discuss any claims you may have against Indivior:

  • Severe tooth decay resulting in cavities and damaged teeth
  • Eroded tooth enamel making teeth vulnerable to sensitivity and tooth decay
  • Dry mouth leading to a decrease in saliva production (saliva helps protect teeth from harmful bacterial and other substances which can contribute to tooth decay)
  • Gum inflammation and periodontal disease
  • Tooth fractures and broken teeth

Here is a timeline of the development, and status, of the Suboxone tooth decay claims:

  • 2022: After research and reports were found to connect Suboxone sublingual strips with dental issues, the FDA required manufacturers to issue warnings of dental health risks in prescribing information and the patient medication guide.
  • September 28, 2023: The first lawsuit against Indivior was filed in the Northern District of Ohio alleging the sublingual film version of Suboxone led to permanent tooth decay resulting in medical and dental expenses from multiple medical and dental providers.
  • October 30, 2023: A potential antitrust class action lawsuit was filed against Indivior alleging an illegal kickback scheme and false marketing claims.
  • November 1, 2023: Ten new lawsuits alleging negligence against Indivior for its failure to warn consumers of the potential dental health risks had been filed against in federal court within the ten preceding days.
  • November 30, 2023: A group of lawyers acting on behalf of plaintiffs filed a petition with the Judicial Panel on Multijurisdictional Litigation (“JPML”) to consolidate all the federal lawsuits against Indivior into multidistrict litigation (“MDL”) for the purpose of streamlining discovery and pretrial proceedings. The Northern District of Ohio is most likely to be selected as the MDL jurisdiction for the forthcoming Suboxone tooth decay lawsuits.
  • December 26, 2023: The JPML set a hearing for January 25, 2024 in Santa Barbra, California during which arguments will be heard from plaintiffs and defendant Indivior regarding the creation of an MDL for the Suboxone tooth decay lawsuits.
  • January 25, 2024: The JPML will determine whether an MDL jurisdiction will be created and, if so, a jurisdiction will be selected during the hearing.

A careless decision on my part left me facing charges which would have severely hampered my ability to stay employed and support myself. I cannot express the gratitude towards Michael for his amazing work and help. It was a very stressful event and they certainly put me at as much ease as possible. From start to finish it took 14 months and all the way through they were both very engaged with me. Today was worth the wait, Michael was great in court and I was rightfully found not guilty. I would recommend Michael over and over again. Claire
