Camp Lejeune Claims

Camp Lejeune: Can You Recover Money as Part of This Litigation

Between 1953 and 1987, the water at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune was contaminated with industrial solvents, benzene, vinyl chloride, and other harmful chemicals recognized by the Environmental Protection AGENCY (“EPA”) as carcinogens with the potential to cause cancer. Servicemembers, civilian workers, and families used this contaminated water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and other everyday activities. As a result, many have suffered from various cancers, diseases, and disorders.

If you or someone you know worked for more than 30 days at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune between 1953-1987, you may be entitled to compensation if exposure to carcinogenic, contaminated water at Camp Lejeune led to cancer and other illnesses. The United States government has allocated $2 billion dollars to those who have been harmed. Additionally, attorneys representing Camp Lejeune plaintiffs in North Carolina federal court are asserting their right to a jury trial pursuant to the Camp Lejeune Justice Act. We at Rightful Legal help our clients injured in accidents, and sometimes, such as in this case, we team with other personal injury firms to assist in Mass Tort claims.

You May Be Eligible for an Immediate Settlement

On September 6, 2023, the United States government announced an “Elective Option” to settle specific claims arising from Camp Lejeune water contamination. Settlement amounts depend on how long the claimant was exposed to the contaminated water. For example, those exposed for 30 days qualify for the lowest amount in the respective tier while those exposed for 5 years or more qualify for the highest amount. Families whose loved ones died from a Tier 1 or 2 medical condition because of water contamination are eligible to receive a $100,000 wrongful death payment.

Tier 1 medical conditions qualify for settlements between $100,000 - $450,000 and include the following:

  • Kidney, bladder, and liver cancer
  • Leukemia
  • Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma

Tier 2 medical conditions qualify for settlements between $100,000 - $400,000 and include the following:

  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Kidney and end-stage renal disease
  • Multiple myeloma
  • Systemic scleroderma
  • Systemic sclerosis

If you chose not to take an “Elective Option”, you may be entitled to compensation including:

  • Past and future medical bills
  • Disability benefits
  • Survivor benefits (for the loss of a family member)

A careless decision on my part left me facing charges which would have severely hampered my ability to stay employed and support myself. But attorney DelSignore's skillful analysis and challenging of the evidence against me resulted in a conviction on a lesser charge. Now I'll be able to go on with my life, having learned a lesson I'll never forget. Thank you, Michael. Scott

I cannot express the gratitude towards Michael for his amazing work and help. It was a very stressful event and they certainly put me at as much ease as possible. From start to finish it took 14 months and all the way through they were both very engaged with me. Today was worth the wait, Michael was great in court and I was rightfully found not guilty. I would recommend Michael over and over again. Claire
