Louisiana<\/u> which raises the issue of whether the Constitution requires a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/hostednews\/ap\/article\/ALeqM5jnK05hFiwH9YSnAiUacYMf91uwbw?docId=7ea24da8e08f4b69b119b83922120db8\" target=\"_blank\">unanimous jury verdict<\/a> to support a criminal conviction.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scotusblog.com\/case-files\/cases\/barbour-v-louisiana\/\" target=\"_blank\">Click on this link to read the filings from the case on the Scotus Blog<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>Only two states Louisiana and Oregon allow a criminal conviction without a unanimous jury verdict.  Massachusetts requires a unanimous jury verdict of all six jurors in district court and twelve jurors in superior court.  Accordingly, if a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delsignoredefense.com\/\">Massachusetts criminal lawyer<\/a> obtains a verdict that is not unanimous a mistrial results and the case can be brought to trial again.  <\/p>\n<p>The defendant in <u>Barbour<\/u> asserts that the Sixth and Fourteenth Amendment require a unanimous jury verdict.  The <a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/ap\/20110217\/ap_on_re_us\/us_supreme_court_divided_juries\" target=\"_blank\">petitioner in the case is represented by Jeffrey L. Fisher<\/a>.  The petitioners argue that the United States Supreme Court should overrule its decision in <u>Apodaca v.
